The Beach House by Jane Green

I was given this book by one of my husbands co-workers to pass the time while I am on bed rest for my second pregnancy. The author did a wonderful job of establishing the characters and their back stories and bringing them together for a fun-filled vacation at an old historic beach home. This is a story about love, losing love, losing who you are, reinventing yourself, and hope for happiness in the future. Though difficult to follow initially, hang in their because it will come together.

Characters: Nan-home owner, Daf-recent divorcee with 13 year old bratty daughter, Michael- Nan's son and had affair with his boss' wife, and Daniel-married six years to Bee and announced that he is gay.

Setting: Nantucket beach house "Windemere"

Pros: Great light read, relatable characters, very realistic

Cons: Difficult to keep track of characters initially (may be tempted to give up), somewhat of a downer if going through marital issues

Overall: I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. This is a great summer read and really allows your mind to create the gorgeous "Windemere" in your mind.
